Rosemary Wilde - Textile Artist, Founder of The Hidden Tentacle

Picture
I do all sorts of textile work including dress-making, felt-making, wall hangings, cushions, soft toys and bags.
I have A levels in textile Art and Theatre, both obtained in 2007. I didn't go to university, instead decided to try and make some sort of living from what I do. This is when I decided there was probably more power in numbers and created the Hidden Tentacle group.
I have a few pieces of felt work on sale in 'Look What Mum's Made' on Monkgate in York and have a couple of pieces on exhibition at Pulse in York.

Rachael Carr - Photographer, Abstract Painter

Picture
Im Rachael, I work in a variety of media, and my main focus is currently on photography and abstract oil painting, for which much of my inspiration comes from the natural landscape. I have a fine art A level, and I hope to fit in some part time art courses around pesky employment in the future! Some of my photographs are currently for sale in Fudies on Walmgate, and the National Trust Café on Goodramgate in York.

Katherine Mayger - Photographer, Print-maker

Picture
I'm Katherine and I do a bit of all sorts crafty. I graduated in Photography HND in 2005, and since then have been doing bits of assisting work and odd 'pay the rent' jobs, being creative in my spare time. I have also completed level 1 and 2 in NOCN Printmaking at York College which I really loved.
I saw Nat's ad on gumtree when I was searching for something, anything to get me out and about and more motivated and so far it has been really positive and inspiring.
My work is also sold on my etsy shop - http://www.ktffos.etsy.com and you can see my photos on Flickr - http://www.flickr.com/photos/55484003@N00/

Laura Gower - Visual Artist

Picture
I'm Laura, I'm a visual arts student studying in Salford.
I heard about the group through a friend on a rather drunken night so really it's a miracle I remembered the name and joined.
My work broadly fits into two categories: portraiture, mainly self-portraits exploring my identity, and work inspired by nature, mainly the sky. I work primarily in paint/sketches and photgraphy (though I actually know very little about cameras and don't own a particularly good one - I just like taking pictures really
).

Ric Liptrot - Illustrator

Picture
I have been working as a freelance illustrator since graduating from Preston University in 2006. Most of my time has been spent doing editorial illustration, clients include The Guardian, Conde Nast Traveller and The Big Issue. I also love to draw buildings and cityscapes, I love to travel the country sketching interesting architecture, my railcard is one of my most prized possessions.   You can find my York illustrations in the Tourist Office, Kafeneion, The Yorkshire Food Company,Image shop and The Swan. To see more of my work visit www.liptrotillustration.com to enter the world of LIPTROT the travelling illustrator.

Amy Rose Clyfan - Fine Artist

Picture
I graduated from Cardiff School of Art in 2008 with a BA Hons in Fine Art. During my degree my interest in drawing led me to produce work based upon formal qualities, abstraction and different processes. These involved breaking down images and re-fitting them back together to create a space/environment. Since then, my initial love for drawing has continued yet my areas of focus have changed considerably, producing work both figurative and abstract that usually connect to my present environment. I intend to continue to enjoy my love for drawing and painting through experimentation and continued practise here in York. I have found joining the art group a great means to get out and about and to enjoy the company of like-minded folk.
